My book, Born to Run, will be part of an ad All Romance eBooks put together for the October issue of Romantic Times. This isn't the first time I've been involved in a ad, On the Run was part of the Linden Bay ad earlier this year, but this is the first time my book won the drawing for a review.
Can you say, OMG?
Romantic Times is a great magazine because it does honest reviews. I respect any review site or magazine that does that. But it makes it hard for someone who is a writer. You want people to like your books, yet you know not everyone will. It's especially hard for someone like me who is just starting out.
I've already had one not-so-positive review for Born to Run, and even though I requested it, it still hit the ego hard. But the very reason I did request it was because I wanted that honesty.
On the Run also got a mixed review, and again, my ego was bruised, but I was a better person in the end. I need to know where I might be going wrong.
I'm just not sure what Romantic Times is going to think of my book. I'm just hoping I get at least a three star...because if I get a one star, I might end up under my desk in the fetal postion. LOL
What can you do? It's part of being a writer. And as long as someone is reading it, and it's getting promoted, that's all that counts.
